After months and months of adding furniture, putting in a floor and, sadly, the coming and going of a few plants; it is finally here. My highly anticipated Room Tour!I moved in at the start of september, when my adventure in Leiden and at Leiden University also started. First, let me sketch my living situation; I live in a student house with seven amazing people. We all pay rent separately for our own rooms and we share a kitchen, living room, two toilets and a bathroom. My room is about 13 metre squared and it already had a built-in loft bed, and some sort of closet-desk situation (you’ll see in the pictures).
I started of with collecting some inspiration. Here are some of my favorite images but you can find my full collection Here, on my Pinterest board. Of course I am on a student budget so it was more the feel of the room i pulled inspiration from and not so much the beautiful yet unaffordable couches and wallpapers.
And now, it’s time for my room! First, my desk/closet area. This desk has two big closet doors next to it (last photo), where I’ve put all my clothes. The top shelf I use for shoes and the second one for books, camera’s and art attributes The desk itself is quite deep so I have a lot of stuff on there.
Opposite from my desk is my clothing rack. I don’t have a lot on there since use it as a rack with my favorite pieces rather than necessary ‘storage’. The plant next to it is new and I really hope it will last longer than my last one…
Under my bed, by the window, I have little couch, a second desk and my tv and record player. The chair is vintage and so is the little table my record player is on. I also have a cute sheep rug on the floor but I want a bigger rug that covers the whole area. So that is still on my wish list! I decorated my wall with Polaroids. You can see more pictures of that here. I also constructed fairy lights under my bed so when you put it on when it’s dark, it looks very cozy (almost like a sky full of stars).
Next, my bed. When I first heard I got the room I was a bit concerned with having a loft bed. I didn’t like the idea of having the ceiling directly above you when you’re lying in bed (a bit like a coffin, iewwww). Fortunately the ceiling is very high so you can even sit straight up and not yet hit the ceiling. The bed really gives me some extra space in my room! The only thing that is a bit hard is changing the bedding. Talking about the bedding; this bedding is from ‘Dekbed Discounter’. They were so kind as to let me pick a bedding to show to you guys. I really love the feel and print of this. I had a white one first but that was a bit to boring for me. This one has something a little extra, without being to ‘in your face’. Oh and they also have satin (!) bedding, which are amazing. Be sure to check them out by clicking Here.
The last part of my room is my own wash basin! It is so nice to have this. Now I can make tea and noodles without leaving my room to go to the kitchen (yes, I’m lazy like that). I have this old mirror that I made a bit more fun with some cards and photos around it. I also have some posters from my life being a student. I stored my make-up in a little plastic rack, nothing special but useful all the same.
This was my room tour! I never realized how hard it is to make interior photos, but I hope you got some kind of impression. I’d love to hear what you think of my room, and if you have any (cheap) decorative tips, let me know!
